PRODUCT REVIEW: ELVIVE HYDRA PURE RANGE

*I was gifted the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Hydra Pure hair care range in exchange for an honest review.

Now, you'll notice from my previous reviews that they follow a very specific format, because I don't believe a review can truly be honest without noting what I liked about the product, if there was anything I didn't like, and who I feel the product will and won't benefit

But before we get into all of that... a fun story. Because of course my life as an author is made of the fabric of interwoven stories.

At the start of this year I did a small, offhanded manifestation ritual that I didn't take too seriously at the time, but now seems to be some kind of portal to speed my wishes into reality. I wrote a list of 100 things I wanted to manifest. The list is wild and varied. I've got things like a shopping trip to Monaco, and things like a new electric toothbrush. Anyway, number 27 on this list was that I wanted some kind of influencer agreement with a brand whose products I already like. It was specifically important to me that this came from a brand whose value I genuinely believe in, because I wasn't going to get onto the internet and lie just for a free influencer package. The universe did what it does, and soon enough the opportunity came up for me to work the agency that was doing the influencer campaign for L'Oreal's new Hydra Pure range. This was made even more so exciting by the fact that I regularly use the Elvive Nutrigloss conditioner. May this be proof to myself that I can always get exactly what I want out of the universe.

Anyway, on to the review.

OVERVIEW

Product: L'Oreal Paris Elvive Hydra Pure hair care range consisting of an oil control scalp serum, a purifying shampoo, and a hydrating conditioner
Usage: for oily roots and dry lengths, to keep your hair looking fresh for 72 hours
My rating: 4.5/5

PROS

The biggest claim this product makes is that it can keep your hair looking fresh for 72 hours, even if you are someone who struggles with oily roots. I'll cut to the chase. It works. As the intended target audience of this product (someone who's hair gets coated in fine grease within 48 hours or less), this product does exactly what it claims to do, and beyond. While I don't recommend anyone not wash their hair regularly, in the interests of seeing just how far I could take this product, I once went up to 5 days (over 96 hours) with decent looking hair. Its promise was fulfilled without a doubt.

Hair care is meant to be an indulgent experience, in my opinion. I view washing and setting my hair as less of a mandatory chore, and more of a meditative moment with my body. The shampoo, specifically, has such a gorgeous lightly perfumed scent.

I also loved that the range didn't just fix the oiliness of my scalp, but it (especially the conditioner, I'm assuming) made my hair look genuinely shiny. They usually use a dash of silicone at the salon to get this effect, but I got it right at home just from a simple hair wash.

CONS

I don't have anything to complain about in regards to this product. It does what it promises. But I will just note 2 personal thoughts I had, that probably won't apply to everyone.

The first is that I didn't like the consistency of the shampoo. It's barely thicker than water, making it very hard to work into a lather, especially in your hands. I needed a large quantity and several rounds to get it to form decent suds. But I do understand that as a product made for greasy hair, it was probably deliberate intent to make it that light.

The second is that this is not a quick hair wash routine, but I suppose if you're coming with a problem as big as an oily scalp with dry lengths, it can't be a speedy fix. Between the serum waiting time, the multiple shampoo rounds, and then a condition, this is an entire routine.

TARGET AUDIENCE

If you have to wash your hair very regularly because it gets greasy quickly, this product was absolutely made for you. I can vouch for it. The condition of my hair looked relatively the same across all 5 days of waiting for my next wash.
